Rapper Wiz Khalifa (real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz) was arrested last night with ten other people for alleged drug possession after his show at the East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
Reports said that the 23-year-old rapper from Pittsburgh was performing as a part of his 60-date national Waken Baken tour when his performance was cut short 45 minutes into the set.
Police officers on the university campus noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from Khalifa’s tour bus which was parked close to the backstage area of the auditorium. They in turn asked Khalifa if they could search the bus, to which Khalifa agreed and discovered 60 grams or about 2 ounces of marijuana onboard.
Upon attempting to re-board his tour bus, reports say that Khalifa was arrested.
The rapper is well known and has openly declared his love for marijuana, boasting that he spends $10,000 per month on the green weed, as well as launching his own line of rolling papers recently. Khalifa has also openly stated that even the current tour name refers to the fact he is “waking and baking”.
Khalifa was in jail for a few hours only, as both he and his manager posted the required bond of $300,000 by 11 am Tuesday morning.
The Pittsburgh rapper's current hit "Black and Yellow" is doing well around the country at the moment.
